Dear Ian,

I would love to come see you at Christmas time! My classes are over on the 22nd and I could fly out that night. I don’t have to be back in NY until January 5th. Will you be my date for New Year’s Eve? I can’t think of a better way to ring in 1983. We don’t even need to go out. I’d be just as happy staying in bed with you.

All is good here. I’m so busy with my senior thesis that I barely have time to breathe. I am so lucky to have gotten that teaching assistant job on campus. At least school and work are both in the same location and I don’t have to leave one place to get to the other. But, Ian, you’re missing a most colorful autumn. The leaves are red and bright orange and have begun to fall off the trees, and there is a definite chill in the air at night now. I wish you were in my bed to warm me all over. I miss you. I can’t wait to see you.
